Today we are covering adobe Photoshop tutorial about how to create metallic text effect in Photoshop.
1) Create background and Text layers.
Select a new background layer and give it whatever effect you want, we are going with blue gradiant effect as shown in the image below. Create one text layer above it and write down the text to which you want to give metallic effect.
2) Layer effects
Select the text layer and go to fx at right bottom of layers section, click on it. it will pop up this menu. click on Bevel & Emboss option.
3) Bevel & Emboss
In the menu that pops up, check the Bevel & Emboss option and set all the parameters as shown in image or described below.
Style: Emboss
Technique: Smooth
Depth: 1000%
Direction: Up
Size: 42
Soften: 0
Shading: -150 & 11
Highlight mode: Screen with white color selected and opacity to 100%
Shadow mode: Multiply with black color selected and opacity to 10%
4) Contour
Go to contour tab below Bevel & Emboss and select the style as shown in image with range set to 100%
5) Inner shadow
Next tab we will check is inner shadow. Go to tab and apply following style settings as shown in image
Blend mode: Overlay black color with 60% Opacity
Angle: 90 degrees
Distance: 58 (according to your text play around) same with size, we have kept size at 250px
6) Satin
Now head over to Satin tab and apply following style settings.
Blend mode: Overlay black color with 20% Opacity
Angle: 25 degrees
Distance: 4 (according to your text play around) same with size, we have kept size at 250px
Contour: anti-aliased and invert (check both)
7) Gradient overlay
In this step we apply gradient to our text. check the gradient overlay tab and apply following settings.
Blend mode: Normal with 100% opacity
Gradient: click on Gradient and apply gradient as shown in image (Left side slider at #c7c7c7 and at right side select pure white #00000) hit okay.
Style: Linear and check align with layer
Angle: 90 degrees and set scale to 150%
8) Drop Shadow
Final step of this tutorial is to check drop shadow tab and apply styles as described in this image
Blend mode: Multiply with 100% opacity and black color
Angle: 90 degrees
Distance, Spread and size should be selected according to text size, resolution of image and font type.
Hit okay button and you shall have Metallic Text effect on your text layer.
